This project consisted of the complete remodeling of a 60 square meter apartment located in Amsterdam Oud-West. The focus was to maximise the use of space while still keeping the level of comfortable living very high. The design style applied is eclectic, using lots of dark colors.
The original apartment consisted of one bedroom situated at the font of the apartment, a separate kitchen and a very small bathroom. In the new lay out the kitchen, dining and living room were combined into one space. In the kitchen design a kitchen island was added so this can be used as a bar as well. The bedroom was moved to the more quiet backside of the apartment. A larger bathroom was created, containing a beautiful custom made black steel shower cabin and a freestanding bath. These two aspects combine very well with the concrete look bathroom wall tiles.
Originally there was a hallway from which the different rooms could be entered. This hallway was removed and the entrance door was moved to give immediate access to the living room. This way a lot of space was gained allowing to add a second bedroom, laundry room and toilet. Also all walls in the living / dining area were removed, allowing lots of light to come into this space.
In the master bedroom a custom clothing closet was build, based on IKEA closet elements. For more information about this closet, view this project.
